Biogas generation

Here is a 52 °C thermophile anaerobic digestion system converting putrescible residual organic matter (i.e. brown trays), organic residues from slaugtherhouse activities and biosludge from wastewater treatment plants to energy.

  • Methane production(CH4) superior to 70%!
  • 100% pathogen destruction!
  • Hydraulic Retention Time (HRT) in the range of 4 to 7 days!
  • Modular system construction sustains plant expansion as required
  • Factory-assembled thermophile AD reactors facilitate site deployment
  • Small footprint

Organic matter is converted into biogas fuel by thermophile anaerobic digestion.

Zero waste Energy Systems (ZWES) has developed a small-scale anaerobic digestion system ADvantage EEC Energy Corporation used to convert biosludge, animal & vegetable fats, slaughterhouse waste, food putrescible waste and soft drink waste into biogas gaseous fuel, as well as produce an organic solid soil ammendment.

The ADvantage system is modular, constructed from individual, cylindrical, factory-assembled reactors each with an 80,000 litres capacity.

The system features multiple advantages:

  • Turn-key 24/7 operation
  • High efficiency Thermohphile Anaerobic Digestion process
  • A faster Hydraulic Retention Time (HRT) implies a shorter process cycle time; which yields a smaller site footprint when compared to a traditional mesophile system
  • Guaranteed pathogen kill destruction rate in the order of 99.999%
  • The modular, factory-assembled, AD reactor design facilitates plant expansions to meet feed volume increases and simplifies linkage to existing AD reactor infrastructure
  • An automated plant facility with remote monitoring capabilities

The following schematic illustrates the simple, modular architecture of the ADvantage process:

Particularities:

  • Intense organix matter digestion
  • High solids content processing (up to 15%)
  • A more robust, less fragile thermophile AD process

Organic matter with a high protein level is converted directly into energy through anaerobic digestion

The anaerobic digester  of ZWES is a biological reactor thermophilic horizontal operating at a temperature of 52 ° C.

The system features include:

  • Improved quality of biogas and a higher return for the destruction of solid matter, which improves the rate of destruction of pathogens.
  • A reduction in hydraulic retention time (HRT), which provides treatment in 66% faster than mesophilic systems.
  • The system is designed to reduce the parasitic heat load and increase the combined efficiency of the system 90% over the capture of heat generated by a boiler or a system of co-generation.
  • A self-cleaning  digesteur through design in the shape of slope and the use of internal unrest.
  • Various inputs can be digested separately with a common collection of biogas products.

In the cylinder, there is a longitudinal mixer. The incorporation of waste added to the container at one end, through all of the cylinder during the retention period to the exit where it is pumped into a buffer before being separated.
